Face of Jesus

For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.  For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
2 Corinthians 4:5-7

We let self and circumstances get in our way.  Today we live with the attitude of "I want it now!"  We don't want to wait for anything or anybody.  It is then that we lose our focus.  It is then when our priorities get all screwed up.  It is then that we try to fix everything and everybody.  But when we look into the face of Jesus everything will come back into focus and He will lift us up out of the miry pit.

Helen Lemmel wrote a hymn in 1922 that says it best:

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
