Fishers of Men

"Come follow Me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
Matthew 4:19

Can you imagine how it would have felt to be walking with Jesus along the shore of the Sea of Galilee?  Listening to the sound of the waves as they rolled in, the feel of the wet sand, the breeze on your face, all the while listening to our Savior as He asked you to follow him.

I can only imagine how Peter and Andrew must have felt.  They dropped everything and did just what Jesus asked of them.  They went into full time ministry, walking with our Savior as He went through His life here on earth reaching and teaching as many as He could before He ascended to heaven.

When Christ calls us to a task He wants us to teach others the good news without complaint and without quitting.  The number one reason we don't do as Christ asks is that we say" I don't know how to do that or I don't have the knowledge to teach."  Guess what if Christ calls you to it He will equip you.  He will give you the resources to get the job done.  All He asks is that we have a true servants heart.

Father God show me and teach how I can be of service within the church You have planted me in.  Let me bloom and grow there....

Jesus Calls Us
by Cecil F. Alexander

Jesus call us; over the tumult
Of our life's wild, restless sea,
Day by day, His sweet voice soundeth,
Saying, "Christian follow Me."

Jesus calls us from the worship
Of the vain world's golden store,
From each idol that would keep us,
Saying, "Christian, love me more."

In our joys and in our sorrows,
Days of toil and hours of ease,
Still He calls in cares and pleasures,
"Christian, love Me more than these."

Jesus calls us: by Thy mercies,
Savior, may we hear Thy call,
Give our hearts to Thine obedience,
Serve and love Thee best of all.
