Promises Day 4

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Matthew 6:33

You've just moved across town into that new home you've been wanting.  Now you have to make a decision what to do first.  Do I unpack and organize the kitchen first so we can eat, or is it the bedroom so we can at least get a good nights sleep, or do I unpack and put away the least used items first just to get them out of the way.  If you are like me, we have a tendency to treat our devotion time, our personal time, with God the same way by saying,  I'll just get this one thing done and then I'll spend my time with God.  Once we've accomplished that task then something else happens and we again put our time with God on the back burner.  Shame on us!

What if God treated us the same way we treat Him and put us on the back burner?  God loves us so much that He never puts our needs, our petitions, our requests on hold.  He loves us so much He sent His Son who paid the ultimate price for you and me.  God asks us to love others as He loves us, to come along side them in their time of need, to pray for them, and promises that He will walk beside us, giving us grace and peace as He leads the way.

More Love To Thee
by Elizabeth P. Prentiss. 1856

More love to Thee, O Christ, more love to Thee!
Hear Thou the prayer I make on bended knee;
This is my earnest plea: More love, O Christ, to Thee;
More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Once earthly joy I craved, sought peace and rest;
Now Thee alone I seek, give what is best;
This all my prayer shall be: More love, O Christ, to Thee;
More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Let sorrow do its work, come grief or pain;
Sweet are Thy messengers, sweet their refrain,
When they can sing with me: More love, O Christ, to Thee;
More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

Then shall my latest breath whisper Thy praise;
This be the parting cry my heart shall raise;
This still its prayer shall be: More love, O Christ, to Thee;
More love to Thee, more love to Thee!
