Blessed Assurance

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
Psalm 91:9-12

There is an old song written by Frances Crosby in 1873 that speaks directly to me for when I hear this song I think of my sister Linda.  Our baby sister Nellie gave each of us a framed sheet of music one year for Christmas.  Mine was Amazing Grace and Linda's was Blessed Assurance.

Blessed Assurance
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretast of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sigh,
Angels, descending, bring from above
Echos of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Angels are messengers from God. They bring us His mercy and His love.
Linda believed in Angels and I do too!

  1. Greetings from Wordwise Hymns. It was nice to visit your "Corner." What drew me here was your quotation of Fanny Crosby's great gospel song--since I posted an article on it myself this morning. Praise the Lord for the assurance He gives us of His saving grace and His eternal love. God bless.
