Slow Cooker Apple Butter

Slow Cooker Apple Butter







4 pounds apple, cored and chopped

½ cup water

4 ½ cups sugar

¾ teaspoon allspice

¾ teaspoon cinnamon

¾ teaspoon cloves



Place apples and water in a 4 quart slow cooker.  Cook on low for 10 hours.  Add the sugar and spices.  Continue cooking on low for 8 more hours.  Remove the lid from the slow cooker and cook for another hour or until the apple butter reaches the desired consistency.  Spoon into hot sterilized jars, leaving ½ inch of head space.  Seal and store in the refrigerator. 

Yields 5 pints.
