Impossible

But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”Matthew 19:26

Only those who can see the invisible can do the impossible!

The Light Within

Let us outdo each other in being helpful and kind to each other and in doing good.  Hebrews 10:22

People are like stained glass windows; they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within.  Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Fasting

6 Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
When you see the naked, that you cover him,
And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.
Isaiah 58:6-9a

This morning Pastor Michael's sermon was on how we are to "Fast for the harvest, not just fast from something."  Verse 6 tells us that God will deliver us.  Verse 7 tells us to share what we have.  Verse 8 tells us to let God's radiance shine through us.  Give up something that is taking you away from God!  We are to fast for God's glory not mans!

God, with all His giving heart, can only give us himself as we recognize the depth of the need in our own lives.  Eugenia Price

God's Love

God not only knows us, but He values us highly in spite of all He knows.  "You are worth more than many sparrows."  How do we get to know God?  By spending time with Him in prayer and then taking the time to listen.

Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  Mark 11:24

Do you criticize/judge others?

At one time or another we have all criticize/judged others.  Were we right in doing this?  Absolutely not!  We are totally wrong when we do this.  We have no idea of what the person we are criticizing/judging has gone through and what the situation may be that they are reacting to or someone else is reacting to.  We are to show them love and concern.  We are to pray for them.  If they have done something that offends you they may be unaware of the offense.  Spend time in prayer, go to them, talk out the situation, and try to work things out as that is exactly what God's Word tells us to do.

Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.  Matthew 7:1-5

I am trying really hard not to react when someone offends me.  Am I always successful?  The answer to that question would be No!  Lately I have been walking away from situations and spending time in prayer.  I find that is the best thing for me to do as I won't say harmful things that I can't take back.  I'm not perfect nor do I claim to be.  I am still a work in progress and God is not finished with me.

Hey GD, Happy "1st" 40th Anniversary

Forty years ago today my sweetie and I shared our first kiss.  I had gone to the Fire Department to pick up the morning coffee for everyone at City Hall and this handsome blue-eyed blond fireman offered to walk me out and open the doors for me.  As he was opening the last door he asked for a Valentine's Day kiss and I said why not.  That was the beginning of our relationship and nine months later we were married.  We have had our ups and downs as all married couples do but we always work out whatever the problem may be and our love for each other is even stronger today.  We learned a long time ago that one person cannot do all the giving while the other does all the taking.  A relationship is 50-50 with all parties working together for the relationship to work.

Happy Valentine's Day sweetie and here's to another 40 years of celebrating our
 "1st" Kiss Anniversary.

I loved this guy then, I love him now and I always will!
XOXOXOXOXO

 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.  Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  1 Corinthians 13:3-5

God's Hand

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.  1 Peter 5:6-7

Isn't it wonderful to know that God's hand is always there and once we grasp it we'll never want to let it go.  I am so glad that I can give Him all my burdens and the anxiety I am feeling.  He will lift it all from my shoulders because He cares for me!

Typical Monday Morning

Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Luke 6:31

I am really trying to live by the Golden Rule.  This morning started out as any other typical Monday morning; newspaper and coffee.  Then it came time for breakfast and someone had taken what someone else said the wrong way and was upset and tried to draw me in.  I decided not to take the bait that was thrown out there and continued on my merry way.  But this got me to thinking.  If this had been a couple of weeks ago or even last week I would have taken that bait and then a minor incident would have been blown up into a mountain.  I would have voiced my opinion without hesitation.  Everyone in our HEART Group is reading The Bait of Satan written by John Bevere.

  We meet on Tuesday evenings, talk about what we have read and how to not take the bait when it is thrown out there by staying in God's Word.

Are you taking the bait?

Dreams

But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
Acts 2:16-18

We all like to dream and hope that someday our dreams will come true.  The stars exist that we might know how high our dreams can soar!

Pet Peeves!!!

How many of you out there in blogger land have pet peeves?  I have several that just really get to me and if I don't put this down on paper I am going to explode as this morning has been one of those mornings.

I hate it when someone takes me for granted and assumes that I am at their beckoned call.  I am no ones slave/maid and I hate being treated like one.  If you want me to do something for you ask me and then thank me for doing it.

I hate it when someone feels like they can go through my personal stuff, take whatever they want without asking, tells me about it later, say they will return it, and then they don't.  I feel violated and would never think of going through their personal items.

I hate it when dirty clothes are just dropped on the floor or put on top of the hamper.  For goodness sake pick them up and put them in the hamper.  Again I am not your maid.

I hate it when someone tells me they are going to do something and then I have to keep bugging them to do it until I finally give up and do it myself.

I hate it when I am doing housework, laundry or cooking and someone constantly keeps asking me if I need any help.  No I don't need any help but if you see something that needs to be done then do it without asking.

Our household consists of 3 adults, 66 to 92 years of age.  I should not have to pick up after anyone as we are all adults.  So get over yourself and do a little something for yourself and don't assume, when visiting, that you can go through my stuff.  You never know when I just might bite back!!!
